The twentieth century has begun, and peace reigns across all Europe and much of the world. In Scandinavia, three stable, prosperous nations have now been established after centuries of uneven medieval spheres of influence, wars of religion and, more recently, the consequences of the geographical proximity of the region to the Second World War. Russia, although heavily weakened by the collapse of the powerful communist USSR, remains the most potent force in the region, and in addition borders three of the other five nations featured. The Baltic states of the former-Soviet republic of Estonia and the weak but peaceful Denmark are the least powerful states on the map, maintaining only negligible standing armies. In this modern climate of globalisation, what will occur over the approaching 10 year period (Jan 2002- Dec 2011)? It is entirely up to you. Should you wish to drastically alter the course of history, it is possible that you may find the abolition of such friendly relations between nations to your benefit. Perhaps you, the newly elected leader of whichever country you choose to represent, may attempt to recreate the imperial glory of your past empire or construct a new order in northern Europe, or perhaps you prefer a more peaceful route, forming strong bonds and alliances which can befit all involved nations. Whatever your preference, the future of much of Europe is in your hands, and you must decide how best to further the interests of the people under your rule, and to what extent those outside your influence benefit or otherwise from your rise to power.
